The
Green Room Community Theatre is a non-profit organization dedicated
to strengthening the quality of life in Catawba County and surrounding
communities through the preservation and growth of the dramatic arts.
The heart of our organization lies in our volunteers, staff and Board of Directors. The life is sustained by our generous contributors, both private and corporate. The soul is the audience, providing support, encouragement and appreciation for the efforts of our volunteer actors and technical staff.
Area dramatists and their supporters provide high-quality theatre at affordable admissions allowing everyone in the community it serves to attend.
The Green Room has 6 mainstage productions that are presented in the
auditorium at the Newton-Conover Civic and Performance Place located
at the corner of West 6th Street and Ashe Avenue, near downtown Newton,
North Carolina.
Our Season usually provides two major Musicals, a Family Show, a Youth Production and a Comedy or Drama. We also have an annual Variety Show produced by our Volunteer organization (APPLAUSE!) to provide extra needed funds.
Other productions develop outside of the mainstage season as second-stage shows.
Activities for youth include 4 different programs: The Green Bean Players, Creative Works, Theatre Works and the Summer Theatre Institute.
The Green Room Community Theatre is an annual funded affiliate of
the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
